PATO organizes several field trips throughout the year to various places of natural interest in Western Portugal. These tours concern places like Óbidos lagoon, Paul de Tornada, São Martinho do Porto and Cape Carvoeiro in Peniche. All these can offer a great variety of bird species, from Waterfowl to Raptors, tand he observer can watch several South European species, like Black-shoulder-Kite, Booted Eagle, Flamingo, Bee-eater, Purple-galinulle and waders on their tricky winter plumages. Occasionally you can find some species from open land habitats, like Little bustard, Bustard and Roller.

The value of the Birdwatching Tours include:
 - Technical trainer and/or guide
 - Checklist of species supposed to be observed
 - Provision of binoculars, telescopes and bird guides
 - Personal accident insurance for each participant
